2 pieces dough, Never Fail Pie Crust
6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
2/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter
Preheat the oven to 375°. Line a deep 9-inch pie pan with pastry. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and spices. Fill the pie shell with the mixture. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust, sealing edges well. Make a slit in the crust to allow steam to vent. Place a strip of aluminum foil around edges to prevent excessive browning. Sprinkle with sugar and bake at 375° for about 50 minutes.
