Cherry Pecan Bread

½ cup butter

¾ cup sugar

2 eggs

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup chopped pecans

1 (10-oz.) jar maraschino cherries

1 teaspoon vanilla

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.  Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.  Add to butter mixture and stir until fully incorporated. Stir in chopped pecans and maraschino cherries.  Pour batter into a prepared loaf pan and bake at 350° for 65-75 minutes.
